Israeli army sentences conscientious objector to 30 days behind bars

(27.05.2019) An IDF disciplinary body sentenced Israeli conscientious objector Roman Levin to 30 days in military prison last week for his refusal to continue serving in the military. Upon completing his current sentence, he will have served a total of 80 days behind bars. Military conscription is mandatory for most Jewish Israelis.

(06.05.2019) Ramallah, West Bank — Kamal Zeidan ist einer aus der offensichtlich wachsenden Zahl von drusischen Jugendlichen in Israel, die die Ableistung des Militärdienstes verweigern. Der 18-jährige saß im April zwei Mal für wenige Woche in Haft und er rechnet damit, in Kürze erneut inhaftiert zu werden.

Israel: Drusischer Kriegsdienstverweigerer in Einzelhaft im Militärgefängnis

(22.04.2019) Kamal Zidan, drusisch-arabischer Bürger Israels erklärte letzten Sonntag gegenüber dem Rekrutierungsbüro in Tel HaShomer, dass er den Dienst in der israelischen Armee verweigert. Er wurde sofort von einem Disziplinargericht zu fünf Tagen Haft im Militärgefängnis verurteilt.

Israel: Druze draft refuser sent to military prison

(22.04.2019) Kamal Zidan, an Arab-Druze citizen of Israel, presented himself at the Israeli army’s Tel HaShomer induction based last Sunday and declared that he refuses to be conscripted into the IDF. Zidan, whose refusal is based on his Palestinian identity, was sentenced on the spot to five days in military prison by an administrative tribunal.
